Van Gogh à l’Atelier des Lumières : féérique

La nouvelle exposition numérique de l’Atelier des Lumières, propose une immersion dans les toiles de Vincent van Gogh (1852-1890), génie ignoré de son vivant, qui a bouleversé la peinture.

Epousant la totalité de l’espace de l’Atelier, cette nouvelle création visuelle et sonore, retrace la vie tourmentée de l’artiste, qui peignit pendant les 10 dernières années de sa vie plus de 2000 tableaux, aujourd’hui dispersés à travers le monde.
Vincent Willem van Gogh, est né le 30 mars 1853 à Groot-Zundert, aux Pays-Bas. Son œuvre pleine de naturalisme, inspirée par l’impressionnisme et le pointillisme, annonce le fauvisme et l’expressionnisme.
Van Gogh grandit au sein d’une famille de l’ancienne bourgeoisie. Il tente d’abord de faire carrière comme marchand d’art. Refusant de voir l’art comme une marchandise, il est licencié. Il aspire alors à devenir pasteur, mais il échoue aux examens de théologie. A l’approche de 1880, il se tourne vers la peinture. Pendant ces années, il quitte les Pays-Bas pour la Belgique, puis la France pour s’y établir. Il explore alors la peinture et le dessin à la fois en autodidacte et en suivant des cours.
Toutefois, sa vie est parsemée de crises qui révèlent son instabilité mentale. L’une d’elles provoque son suicide, à l’âge de 37 ans.

The new digital exhibition of the Atelier des Lumières, offers an immersion in the paintings of Vincent van Gogh (1852-1890), genius ignored during his lifetime, which has upset the painting. Marrying the entire space of the Atelier, this new visual and sound creation, traces the tormented life of the artist, who painted during the last 10 years of his life, more than 2000 paintings, today scattered through the world.
Vincent Willem van Gogh, was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, the Netherlands. His work full of naturalism, inspired by Impressionism and Pointillism, announces Fauvism and Expressionism.
Van Gogh grew up in a family of the old bourgeoisie. He first tries to make a career as an art dealer. Refusing to see art as a commodity, he is fired. He then aspires to become a pastor, but he fails the theology exams. At the approach of 1880, he turned to painting. During these years, he left the Netherlands for Belgium, then France to settle there. He then explores painting and drawing both as an autodidact and as a student.
However, his life is peppered with crises that reveal his mental instability. One of them causes suicide, at the age of 37.
The exhibition ends on January 05, 2020.
